the night before that was up in keady co. armagh.......real bandit country.....bigger room.....tougher crowd.......actually it started really good, not as quiet as naul, but just loud enough so it didn't feel as pin droppy......BUT then these 3 'fine' ladies came up and sat right at the front of the stage and MAN O MAN!!!!!!!!....no matter how loud we tried to play we could not compete with the volume of these girls......and at the end of the night one of them licked damon across his whole mouth!!!....not a sloppy kiss, but a BIG DIRTY SLOOPY LICK........maybe they were not soooooo fine??????? another one said to me "paddy.....we really enjoyed your set, BUT ya shoulda finished off with a saw doctors song, instead of one of your own.....ya know paddy, to get the crowd goin.....like the N17".........i suppose you gots to be there........we did sell 7 cds so that was a plus and despite all i joke about the people the were all very friendly and the 3 girls were hilariuos!!!!!

sound check is at 4pm

this one shoud be a good one..........it's closest to my home place, so they'll be a howlin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well boys, wats the craic?  Hope the rest of the tour is going well.  We all really enjoyed the gig on friday nite, the only thing is we arent quite sure which one of us gave damon the BIG SLOPPY LICK!!!  Naturally im gettin the blame cos im the only single one, but i've reassured everyone that it wasnt me (although i wouldnt have minded a bit of a lick, yum yum, or a bit of a poke) so that only leaves the other two, unless we are talking about 3 other 'fine' women, im almost certain it was my brothers wife, since she was handin out advice all nite, from haircuts, how to end the gig and relationship advice.  Neway we will just have to fight it out to find out who it was. hope you are all havin a ball and we are looking forward to the next cd, x x Kiera

Sorry for taking so long to get back to yee.

So yeah!......the next night was the Spirit Store......my home turf.

Really cool room, low lit, with candles on all the tables. It's right on the docks, with fishing boats all round it.

So, the room was packed.......I was without a doubt the most nervous I've been for a gig in quite a while. Playing in front of your own home crowd is more nerve recking than any other gig.

Los Diablos didn't help the situation at all. The boys were totally on fire and for any of yee who have never heard the lads, they've got that giddy up, train a coming down the line, Johnny Cash beat, going on in a lot of their set. They had the whole room fired up. I watched most of the set and then proceeded down stairs to settle myself. Had a couple of pints as was still panic'd. They finished their set and I could hear from down stairs the whole place roaring for more and so they did another one. I guess I'm buliding this up too much, but basically I gave myself 10-15mins and then headed onto the stage. Ya can't beat the roar of support from your own home crowd!!

I sang 'Watching Your Side' on my own......a little shakey but by the end of it I was settled. Damon, Jeremy and Travis joined me then and I have no other detail to give yee apart from it was full steam ahead and probably the most enjoyable gig on the tour. A band can play their hearts out but the corwd is what makes any show. They were there in blood support! Just a ball of a time.

Thanx to each and everyone there that night. We are hoping to get back there real soon.

I'll write more about the other shows in a bit.

Cheerio now!

Monday night we played Crawdaddy in Dublin.

I was kinda concerned that becuase it was a Monday, that the turn out would not be wonderful......but that said we had put a lot of PR into it and I know lots of heads from over the years that would more than likely show. They did.

It didn't run as smooth as Dundalk but you could tell that everyone was kinda tired from the weekend and working all day. Non the less, we played our hearts out. We did get them going, but no where near the fire of the night before. We got them singing along towards the end of the set. We sold cd's an we made money. It was really cool to hang and chat after the show with all the old time buddies.

The booker at the club was well impressed with the attendance, so we'll be back in Dublin for sure but next time it will be Whelan's. I played there solo about 2 years ago.......the coolest room in the city.

Dublin.....class A town......but Meath will beat them in the replay this Sunday.....aha!!!!!!!!

Tuesday night was Roisin Dubh Galway!

A very well renound club in Ireland.

This was the 1st show on the tour where we didn't have a great turn out. I suppose there were about 30 people at the begining of it but as the set rolled on some other heads that were drinking in the front bar sauntered on in........I suppose there we 50 plus there by the time we were 3/4's done with the gig.

Yep! 1st night we had a smaller crowd but they were brillaint!! The Galway heads really made the gig......the crowd always makes the gig. It was fire on all fronts. Thanx to the Sinead & The Millionaire, the Kerins crew, Mr Muldoon and all the rest. This was also the 1st night where we didn't have to drive after the show and so we really let out hair down big time!!! Plenty of Aurthur!!!

For anyone who doesn't know this town........it really knows how to socailize...beautiful city!
------------------------------
The next night we played in Grange Sligo........probably shouldn't say too much about this one, but I gots to be true.

2.......yes 2 people showed up..........basically just bad PR and it was a Wednesday night too........but heah! the two that did show travelled and hour an 15mins to be there on the strength of a show they saw us do with Mundy a couple of months ago back in Boston.

Neither Los Diablos or us cut our sets short at all.......We played as if there were a million in the house to make sure we looked after the 2 fans.

And that was it for poor turnouts on the tour

Onwards to Matt Molloys in Mayo!

Matt Molloy's Westport Mayo.

This was my 1st time in Wesport. It's a bigger town than I thought it would be and looks so fine in the sun. Oh I never mentioned in all of this.....the weather was un-real for the whole time we were there. Sunshine every day!!!!!!! Matt Molloy's was the smallest room we played in. It's a really cool pub. The real old style Irish pub. There are four rooms in it and you walk straight through to the back room where we played. It has a glass ceiling in the room. Would love to play it in a lightening storm!

Well straight off the bat we have to thank Geraldine Molloy. She truely did treat us like rockstars (that's because we really are rockstars in real life...eh?........we're not prentend rockstars.....we're the real deal.....aha!)
I mean all the places we played, we got put up either in the venue or in a local B&B, but Geraldine took real good care of us.

This gig, I opened the show and then Los Diablos took over. It was mostly seated at the begining and as the drinks started to flow there came more movement in the corwd......well more so when Los Diablos hit the stage. It was a completely different gig from any other night we had on the tour. The room was small and it was the type of room that you couldn't turn up too loud at all. It was the quietest gig we've ever played and we ended up playing the songs with a very different feel because of it. But it was just as powerful as it would be rocking out the paradise. Powerfull cause you could hear a pin drop. I once saw Glen Hansard (The Frames) playing The Druid about 7 years ago and that was the 1st time i really experienced the power of silence. He would build a song up to a volcanic roar and then drop it down to nothing and carry you the to very edge of silence. It was at the moment his song would release the most power. So the crowd and the silence were dealy and made us dish is out in a very different way and they remained that way for our set. We were very well recieved by the crowd. Sold cd's and then drank plenty of good stout as Los Diablos took over.

The drinks were starting to kick in with the crowd and Los Diablos started their giddy up! By the time they were half ways through the set there were feet shuffling all over the floor.......even my concrete hoofs danced a bit. My good friend Siobhan O'Brien drove over 2 hours from Limerick to catch the show. Was good to see her and hang out with her and of course we made her get up and sing a few.

She released a single last year 'Beautiful Bodies' which never took off like it really deserved to. But let me tell you it's one of the best and catchiest songs I heard in 2006. You should defintely check her out. She sang that tune and I joined her on the stage. She also sang Bob Dylan's 'Rolling Stone'.

It was a fine night all round!!

Met some real characters there and will defintely return.

Will write more later to let yee know how the last show went in Draperstown Derry and how we occupied our time over the last couple of days after that.

The Cellar, Draperstown Derry

Well just a little info with nothing to do with the tour.......I just found the time to write this now cause I locked my bloody keys in my car and I'm waiting on someone to break into it..........aHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So, we left Westport in Mayo to head off to do the last gig of the tour which would be in Draperstown Derry. Come to find out that we should have took a different route and so it took us 5 hours instead of about 3 and a half. Ah well, we got to see plenty more of the country.

We arrived and the owner of the Cellar, Ryan, met us. A character and a half! He said "we got rid of all the cops in this town so we'll be ending the gig when ever we burn out!!" It's a class venue and Dermott on the sound board was great. The punters were definitely a lively bunch and knew how to party for sure. When we arrived Josh from Los Diablos suggested that we'd split the night differently and each band would do a 45 min set and revolve the night like that. It worked out great. Los Diablos went on and did their thing. We followed after that and did our 1st set. Becuase it was the very last gig on the tour, we all did indulge a little more on the drinks. After all we were fairly we behaved up to this. We played shorter sets, took our turns at doing it and got buzzed with the punters at their rate.....which was fairly rapid. By the time Los Diablos went up to do their last set there were sparks in the air. They really kicked into gear......yes that good old giddy up thing got the whole place going........they battled through the PA system failing.....there were loud bangs coming from one speaker but Dermott go it all sorted after no time at all and the fact that the lads battled through it without stopping, got the crowd even more fired up. I'd have to say Los Diablos had the crowd so pumped that I gave them the nod to keep extending their set. I was afraid to get up and try to follow it. So they did extend and extend and extend. Closing time is 1am there and at 1.30am there was no sign of it stopping. It was different and more laid back than any of the other shows. I figured that we wouldn't be going back up but Ryan and Dermott were not letting me away that easy. So we did get back on the horse at about 1.45am. We only played 3 songs but they were the extended versions. The songs were 'The Devil Must', 'Angel Face' and 'Peeled on you'........by the end of the last song it was scary becuase the band and the crowd were pretty much welded together in a massive amount of maddness. We finally pulled the plug at 2.25am..................brillaint venue, brilliant craic with brilliant people...........we'll be there for sure again!

Thanx to Ryan, Maria and Dermott and all the heads we met, jingled and mingled with in Draperstown.

Thanx very much to Tracy Curran, her sister and friend who made their way across the mountain from Derry city for the show.

Next time we'll play the city for you Tracy!!!

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paddy

gots to go now the tripple A dude is outside trying to break into my car...............will fill yee in later about our 2 days off, before we headed back to Boston
